Advertising: If there is advertising on a poster that will get displayed at local shopes, indoors, any of the uncoated or glossy papers will work. But if you need the posters to be rigid, 14pt could be your best option.

Rigid: You can have the posters mounted on foamboard with an easel if they'll have to sit on a countertop.

Outdoor posters will be better served by synthetic paper substrate. They'll bear the rain and wind without damage.
