10x 13 Large Envelopes (Custom Envelope Printing)
These large envelopes are the standard choice when you need to mail full-size documents, folders, or booklets without folding them. If your insert is up to 9" × 12", a 10" × 13" envelope gives you the room to slide it in flat and arrive looking professional.
At a glance
- Exterior size: 10" × 13"
- Holds inserts up to: 9" × 12" flat (unfolded)
- Opening: Booklet (long side), Catalog (short side), or Peel & Seal
- Paper: 28 lb white wove
- Printing: Black ink or full color — no full bleed
- Minimum order: 25 envelopes
Mailing a 9" × 12" document flat?
Whether you're a real estate agent sending a listing packet, a church mailing your annual report to donors, a school sending out enrollment folders, or a small business owner shipping a signed contract to a client, the 10" × 13" envelope is the one that lets your work arrive flat, crisp, and unbent. There's enough room inside for a presentation folder (even one with a thicker spine), a multi-page proposal, a magazine, or a stack of documents held together with a clip. If you only need to mail a few sheets of letter-size paper with nothing else inside, a smaller 9" × 12" envelope may be all you need — but the moment thickness enters the picture, step up to the 10" × 13".
Booklet vs. Catalog vs. Peel & Seal — which one do you need?
All three are 10" × 13" on the outside. The difference is where the opening is and how it closes.
| Style | Opening | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Booklet | On the long (13") side | Booklets, magazines, brochures, lookbooks — opens like a book and shows your insert front-and-center |
| Catalog | On the short (10") side | Catalogs, contracts, reports, thick stacks of paper — loaded from the top, sturdy for heavier inserts |
| Peel & Seal | Same as catalog, with a self-adhesive strip | High-volume mailings where you don't want to moisten gummed flaps — just peel the strip and press |
Standard gummed flaps on the booklet and catalog versions are activated with moisture. The peel & seal version skips that step entirely.
What fits inside — and who mails them
10" × 13" envelopes are the workhorse for any business that mails important documents flat. Common uses we see every week:
- Real estate agents — listing packets, disclosure documents, closing folders
- Law firms & accountants — contracts, settlement statements, tax returns
- Nonprofits & churches — annual reports, donor packages, board materials
- Schools & universities — transcripts, enrollment packets, certificates
- Marketing teams — oversized brochures, postcard mailers, lookbooks, catalogs
- Medical offices — patient records, X-rays, intake packets
- Anything that shouldn't be folded — presentation folders (even high-capacity ones with a spine), price lists, newsletters, even tablets
Mailing your 10" × 13" envelopes through USPS
A 10" × 13" envelope is classified by USPS as a large envelope (also called a "flat") — not a letter. That means it uses a different postage rate than a #10 business envelope.
As of January 2026, USPS First-Class Mail large envelopes start at $1.63 for the first ounce, with each additional ounce adding to the cost. Maximum weight for a First-Class flat is 13 ounces — anything heavier needs to ship as Priority Mail. Your envelope must also stay rectangular, flexible, and uniformly thick to qualify, otherwise USPS adds a non-machinable surcharge. Current rates and weight tiers are published on the USPS First-Class Mail page.
Quick tip: If you're planning a larger mailing campaign, ask us about Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) — for some projects it can be a much cheaper way to reach a whole neighborhood without needing individual addresses.
Color, customization & variable data
You can print your 10" × 13" envelopes in black ink or full color CMYK. Full bleed (printing all the way to the edge) is not offered for this product, so leave a small white border in your design.
If your project calls for it, we can also print with variable data — meaning each envelope can carry a different recipient address, account number, or even a different image. That's how you get personalized mailings without hand-addressing every piece.
And because the envelope itself is already going through the press, take advantage of the real estate: a return address, your logo, a tagline, or a teaser message on the front turns every envelope into its own small marketing piece before the recipient even opens it.

Frequently asked questions
What size is a 10" × 13" envelope?
The exterior measures 10 inches by 13 inches. The interior holds documents
up to about 9" × 12" flat, depending on the thickness of
what you're inserting.
Will a 9" × 12" document fit in a
10" × 13" envelope?
Yes — flat and unfolded. The extra inch on each side gives you enough
room to slide the document in cleanly without bending the corners.
What's the difference between a booklet and a catalog envelope?
Booklet envelopes open on the long (13") side, like a book. Catalog
envelopes open on the short (10") side, loaded from the top. Both are
10" × 13" externally — pick whichever matches how you
want the recipient to pull your document out.
How much postage does a 10" × 13" envelope need?
It mails as a USPS large envelope (flat). First-Class postage starts at
$1.63 for the first ounce as of January 2026. Anything over 13 ounces ships
as Priority Mail. Always weigh the finished envelope on a scale before
applying postage.
See USPS rates.
What is the minimum order?
25 envelopes. There's no maximum — we print runs of any size from 25
up.
Can I print in full color?
Yes. You can choose black ink only or full color CMYK. Full bleed printing
is not available for this product, so keep your design within a small white
border.
Can I print variable data, like addresses or custom images per
envelope?
Yes. We can print each envelope with a different address, account number, or
even a different image as part of the same job.
What paper are these printed on?
28 lb white wove envelope stock — the standard for professional
business mailings.
